Gathering Springs Farm is founded with a mission to provide nutritious food, sustainable living options, and engagement and meaningful experiences. We do this through:

• Regenerative agriculture practices
  GSF uses minimal tillage, flame weeding, and crop rotation to reduce pest and weed pressure and build topsoil. Minimal tillage means we only turn the soil once or twice a year, using a single pass and shallow depth. This allows the beneficial network of fungi and bacteria in the soil to build up, creating a “carbon sink” to remove greenhouse gases from the environment, and prevents erosion and run off. We use tillage only to incorporate compost and organic-approved amendments, as well as to terminate cover-crops - all of which help improve soil biology and structure.

• Reducing single-use plastics & food waste
  We promote reusable bags by offering a discount with the purchase of our stylish canvas bag that is made in the USA, and offering paper bags instead of plastic at farmers markets. Want to stock up on our kombucha and ferments? BYO container from home for a 10% discount on those products! And we’ll take your food scraps free of charge to turn into rich, nutrient-dense compost on the farm.

• Classes, dinners, workshops, and events on site
  In the past hundred years, farmers have gone from making up 25% of the population to less than 2%. Join us on the farm to talk nutrition, health, environmental advocacy, and have a good time in the fresh country air. Check out our events page to see what’s going on!
